Order books open in France for the limited-edition Renault Captur Helly Hansen

  • To mark the end of the summer break, order books for the Helly Hansen limited-edition version of Renault Captur opened in France on September 1.
  • Renault has teamed up with the outdoor sport and leisure clothing brand Helly Hansen to market the first version of Renault Captur to feature Extended Grip system for optimal traction control whatever the conditions.
  • The specification of Renault Captur Helly Hansen is based on the model’s Intens equipment level and comes complete with combined imitation leather/fabric upholstery and high-tech features such as the R-Link touchscreen tablet and a rear view camera.
  • Tax-paid prices for this limited-edition version of Captur, which can be specified with any of the engines available in the model’s catalogue, range from €20,700 and €24,300.


The range of Captur, Renault’s first urban crossover, has been expanded by the introduction of a new limited-edition Helly Hansen version developed in association with the celebrated Norwegian outdoor sport and leisure clothing brand founded in 1877. The new addition features a distinctive adventurer stance which includes an exclusive Flamme Red finish, making it the only version of the model to offer this body colour, as well as Platine Grey front and rear skid plates and 17-inch black diamond-effect alloy wheels. HH badging on the wings indicates the car’s association with Helly Hansen.

Captur Helly Hansen can be ordered in one of three two-tone body colours:

  • Flamme Red with black or ivory roof,
  • Cassiopée Grey with black roof,
  • Ivory with black roof.

The cabin comes with a number of specific embellishments, such as red dashboard trim strips, a ‘carbon fibre’ motif for the steering wheel insert, chrome door sill guards and front carpet mats.

The red selected for the pattern of the imitation leather/fabric seats matches the cabin trim to add a further status-enhancing touch to Captur Helly Hansen’s interior.


Extra grip to facilitate motoring in all weather

Captur Helly Hansen is also equipped as standard with the Extended Grip traction optimisation system first seen on Renault Scénic X-Mod in 2013.

This advanced technology is an evolution of the traction control system designed to optimise grip in difficult conditions, such as snow, mud, sand, etc.

A rotary control on the centre console allows the driver to select the ideal mode for the conditions. There are three modes (‘Road’, ‘Loose Ground’ and ‘Expert’), the first of which is the default choice for hard surfaces (dry, wet or ice). The system reverts to this choice at speeds in excess of 40kph after an alternative mode has been selected.

The ‘Loose Ground’ mode puts the Extended Grip system in charge of the driven wheels. Engine torque and braking effort are automatically adjusted to permit more front wheel spin. This allows the all-weather tyres (Mud and Snow) to clear mud, snow or sand more effectively and thereby benefit from better grip to move forward.

By selecting the ‘Expert’ mode, the driver can control the delivery of engine torque to accelerate as he or she sees fit, while leaving optimisation of the braking effort to the system.

The system necessitates the fitment of Mud and Snow tyres, the specific tread pattern of which enables them to clear mud, sand or soft snow more efficiently.



The limited-edition Renault Captur Helly Hansen is based on the model’s Intens equipment level and packs the following features:

  • Techno Pack (rear parking sensors, rear view camera and R-Link multimedia system),
  • Extended Grip,
  • Special metallic paint finish,
  • Front and rear skid plates,
  • Interior Colour Pack,
  • Combined imitation leather/fabric upholstery,
  • Carpet maps, badging and door sills.
